From childhood, I wanted to become a software/app developer.

In my neighborhood, there was a 90-year old woman who had to go to Walmart to buy groceries every week as there was no grocery delivery facility available. She was hardly able to walk. She walks so slowly that she would take about 10 minutes to cover the 20-feet distance.

So, whenever I saw her walking slowly to dump her trash, I would immediately go down and help her by dumping her trash. Even though it was a small help, she said it has been a huge help to her. I was wondering how hard it would be for her to go down to Walmart and do her groceries.

About a few years ago, like many ambitious guys in my generation, I wanted to disrupt the retail industry by delivering groceries at their doorstep. Back then, Amazon was not delivering any groceries and there was no grocery delivery services app like Instacart existed. I had this huge passion me ready to explode, I wasn’t able to think of anything else except thinking about making my dream a reality.

I talked to a few like-minded friends, they were all excited. We laid down the requirements. Long story short, we nailed down we needed an app where people can go and order groceries, a website for doing the same through the website too, and backend software.

I was imagining in my mind about our project and how it would impact the world. It was such a nice feeling.

We did research and listed a few app and software development companies. Being a structural engineer in New Orleans, LA I was getting a decent salary and put together all my savings to make this dream a reality.

We were so fired up and scheduled a consultation with the first development company. We were discussing we wanted to develop a quality and user-friendly with this and this feature in it. The salesperson said the cost would be around $60000 for the app, $15000 for the website and $50000 for the software. It will take six months for them to develop. They said this price is not final, it will go up if the development takes more time.

It was a huge shock to me and shattered my heart.

I was wondering why developing an app or building software is this costly.

I read it in a book, you would know so much about an industry by sweeping a floor inside the building than doing years of research being outside the industry.

I switched from Structural engineering to the software field and took a job in a software company in New Orleans. I am sure it is a miracle from God that I was able to switch my field.

I got the inside of their billing system. So, when software or app is developed, though the actual developer’s salary is minimal, following things jacked up the price.

  1. Management’s high-profit margin
  2. Huge marketing and advertisement costs
  3. Unnecessary long lunch hours and meetings

It takes up more than 50% of the cost sometimes even 70%.

1. The solution we adopted to Management’s high-profit margin

Let me share an interesting thing about a successful car dealer. He doesn’t have any special cars or talented salesmen. However, everyone buys cars from him only. The only secret recipe he has is, honesty. He keeps only a fair profit margin and sells only quality cars that he would buy from others.

I strongly believe if you are honest, people will come to know about it soon. The opposite is true too. Another famous example is Walmart. Sam Walton was selling products for a fair profit margin. Though he didn’t advertise about it, people came to know about it and his shop became famous in his area.

I follow the same in TrinityWired. We keep a fair profit margin and people started pouring in. We have been featured as the top app/software development just because of our honesty. We have been growing more than 200% in revenue every year.

Also, the number one requirement to work for our company is honesty. We emphasize on hiring honest developers to work for us. I am sure when you hire us for your projects, you will feel the difference too.

2. The solution we adopted to Huge marketing and advertisement costs

Studies show marketing and advertisement contributes more than 40% of a development company’s expenses. In other words, your cost to develop an app or software would be 40% less if they didn’t spend such hefty money on ads. The price they quote you includes their marketing and ad expenses too.

We determined to focus on quality instead of ads. We developed quality products for our clients at a fair price. As a result, people started referring us to their friends and business contacts. So, we don’t have to spend literally any money on advertisement. This is a huge saving for us. Also, we are able to pass this saving to our clients too.

3. The solution we adopted to Unnecessary long lunch hours and meetings

A recent study by Harvard business school reveals that white-collar workers spend almost four hours a day in non-productive activities such as long lunch hours, unnecessary meetings, and chitchats.

Amazon CEO Jeff said, “If your workers need to constantly communicate with each other, you don’t have a proper system in place”. After many experiments, we zeroed in on a system. So, we avoided unnecessary communication and meetings. Also, we encourage our workers to take a nab peacefully for half an hour if they finish in half an hour. Einstein’s secret to his productivity is taking a nab in lunch hours. It will propel to higher productivity as well.

We spent almost 10 months and a ton of money to find and recruit the best people around the world to work for us.

As the Bible verse Proverbs 28:18 says The one whose walk is blameless is kept safe, but the one whose ways are perverse will fall into the pit, as long as you are honest and walking in the God’s way, your business will keep prospering.

I am sure you will notice the efficiency of our team when you work with us.

We look forward to serving you.
